Becoming a parent is one of life’s biggest transitions. Alongside joy and love, it can bring anxiety, overwhelm, or even trauma. I offer counselling for mothers, birthing parents, dads, and non-birthing parents across York and online throughout the UK.
Postpartum anxiety, OCD, or depression
Guilt, resentment, rage, or fear
Traumatic birth experiences
Pregnancy complications or sickness
Parenting a baby with additional needs
The pressure to “get on with it” or dismiss struggles as “just the baby blues”
These challenges affect more than just birthing parents. Many dads and partners experience:
Witnessing a traumatic birth
The fear of losing loved ones
The weight of financial and emotional responsibility
Guilt when they too find things hard
I offer online or telephone counselling sessions, so support is flexible. You can connect during nap times, feeds, or even while out walking with your pram.
You don’t have to go through this alone. With the right support, it is possible to feel steadier, more confident, and more connected as a parent. I am dedicated to providing accessible mental health support to new parents at a time when money is tight, so I charge £40 an hour for up to 6 sessions for those with babies under 1 year old.
